Porcelain Veneers: What Are They?

In simplest terms, porcelain veneers are coverings for your teeth. They are as thin as your fingernail, yet offer strength, durability and beauty. Veneers are made of natural looking dental porcelain or composite resin. Dr. Pazmino designs veneers for each individual tooth that needs to be concealed. This way, you can be certain your smile won’t end up looking like blocks of similarly sized and shaped teeth. Incisors look like incisors and canines look like canines.

Furthermore, Dr. Pazmino also considers your unique features when specifying the design of your porcelain veneers. Your lips, the size and shape of your mouth, even your complexion, eye color and hair color are important considerations when selecting the best size and shade of white for your new smile.

Porcelain Veneers: What Do They Fix?

Many patients are concerned about whether or not the flaws in their smile can be corrected with porcelain veneers. Fortunately, we can fix quite a variety of imperfections including:

Correcting each of these imperfections would probably take years and be quite expensive. Porcelain veneers, on the other hand, provide the beautiful smile you want and require only two appointments with Temple cosmetic dentist Dr. Pazmino.

Porcelain Veneers: What’s Involved?

At your first appointment for veneers, Dr. Pazmino will file away a slim layer of tooth enamel in order to make room for the veneers. Once your teeth are altered, you’ll always need to wear coverings so we’ll give you a temporary set of acrylic veneers while the porcelain set is hand crafted in a dental lab.

In a couple of weeks, you’ll return to our dental office. Dr. Pazmino will remove the temporaries and cement your customized porcelain veneers to your teeth. With daily brushing and flossing along with regular scheduled dental checkups, your new smile will give you years and years of pleasure.
